Our Story
One of my earliest memories is sifting through a trunk of fabric scraps from my mom's various sewing projects. She made clothes for my sister and I, curtains, pillows, just about anything. I started sewing in High School. I remember making a dress in my sewing class. When I wore it to school, I received so many compliments. I was hooked. Pretty soon, life got in the way, and it would be quite a while before I had the urge to sew again. Over the years, I had a few sewing projects but I'm not sure I actually finished any of them. When 2020 hit, I was furloughed from my job of 15 years. I needed a positivity boost. I noticed on social media that people were looking for masks but there were none to be found in the stores. I dug out all of the fabric from my unfinished sewing projects and started making masks. On social media, I would send messages to people who were posting that they were trying to find masks. I started giving masks away from my front porch. People would leave me gifts of paper towels, toilet paper, toiletries, flowers from their gardens, thank you notes... It was such an emotional boost! Pretty soon, I was back at work and masks were available in stores again. There wasn't a great need. However, by this point, I had re-discovered my love of sewing. I started looking for another problem that needed a solution. I found that problem when I started experiencing heat waves due to a medical condition. I found myself needing a way to cool down. This is how Boobie Coolers were born. Small triangle pouches of fabric filled with water beads. When soaked, they swell and can be placed in a lady's cleavage. I found that since it sits on your solar plexus, it actually cools you at your core. I continued on this path and began giving away my creations as gifts to family and friends. Their feedback was and continues to be essential. I began selling my products at craft shows and farmer's markets in February 2022. Getting out into the community and meeting so many new people has been an eye opener for me. I've always been kind of a home body but I have found that I truly enjoy getting out and chit chatting with people, whether they are interested in buying my products or not. I have some ideas for the future and hope all of you will come along with me for the ride.
